Flippables - Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Flippables collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the mobile application.
Information We Collect
- Account information: Authentication identifiers, sign-in metadata, and the profile and settings associated with your Flippables account.
- Purchase information: Purchase, access entitlement, and AI credit records used to provide paid features and restore purchases.
- Study data: Your cards, decks, folders, study history, settings, and associated media are stored on your device. If you upload a cloud backup or enable Auto Sync, a copy of your local database and associated files is also uploaded to our cloud storage.
- Usage and diagnostics: Information about features used, study activity, device and app details, and errors, used to understand usage and improve reliability.
Google Sign-In
If you choose Google Sign-In, Google provides basic account information to Firebase Authentication, which we use to authenticate you. This can include your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture. Firebase maintains your authentication profile and issues authentication tokens; our backend verifies those tokens and uses your Firebase user identifier to associate your account with Flippables data and purchases.
We use Google Sign-In information to authenticate you and protect access to your account. Your Flippables profile name and image are managed separately in the app. Flippables does not receive your Google password. Google Sign-In does not give Flippables access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or calendar.
We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. Google account information is processed by Google and Firebase to provide authentication; our backend uses your Firebase identifier to provide account services. You can remove Flippables access through your Google Account settings; this does not itself delete your Flippables account or its cloud backups.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate you and maintain your profile and preferences.
- Provide study features, optional cloud backup and restore, and AI features you request.
- Provide purchased access and credits, restore purchases, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Understand feature usage, investigate errors, and improve the application.
User Data Storage and Deletion
Local data and optional cloud sync
Flippables stores study data locally so you can study offline. Auto Sync is off by default. You can choose a manual upload or restore in the sync settings, or turn on Auto Sync. If enabled, Auto Sync can upload changes automatically and download your latest backup when you open or return to the app. Sync uploads include the local database and associated files, so they can contain your study content and history.
Turning off Auto Sync does not delete existing cloud backups. Previously uploaded backups can remain available in your cloud backup history and are subject to backup cleanup. Cloud backups are stored using our hosting and storage providers, including Cloudflare R2. They are not stored in your personal Google Drive.
Deleting the app or account
Deleting the app or losing your device can remove your local data. A successfully uploaded cloud backup may allow restoration while it remains available and you can access the same account. Cloud backup is optional and is not a guarantee of recovery; keep a separate backup of important study materials.
When you delete your account in the app, Flippables removes your server-side profile and settings, removes existing cloud backups from your backup history, and requests deletion of their stored files. The app completes deletion and signs you out only after cloud storage confirms removal. If an upload already in progress finishes afterward, background cleanup removes the remaining copy. Automatic uploads are blocked after deletion until you explicitly upload or enable sync again.
We retain your Firebase authentication identity so we can recognize the same user returning and prevent abuse. We also retain purchase and entitlement records and operational and abuse-prevention metadata; deleting your account does not reset used credits or trial history. Signing out, turning off Auto Sync, or removing Google access alone does not delete your cloud backups or these retained records. Contact support@flippables.app for questions or requests about retained data.
Data Security
Data is encrypted in transit when sent to our services. Cloud backup files contain your study data; they are not end-to-end encrypted with a key held only by you.
Information Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We use service providers to operate Flippables: Google/Firebase for authentication and app services, Cloudflare for hosting and cloud storage, RevenueCat and the app stores for purchases, and analytics and diagnostic providers including Firebase Analytics, PostHog, and Sentry. These services process information needed to provide their respective functions. Analytics and diagnostics are used to improve the app, not to sell your study content.
AI
When you request an AI feature, the text, images, files, or card content you submit for that request may be processed by our backend and AI service providers to generate the result. Using Google Sign-In does not give these providers access to your Gmail or Google Drive. Cloud backup alone does not request AI processing of your study content.
